For this piece I really wanted to highlight and accentuate the beauty of the clay itself. The body is unglazed and the contrast with the glazed rim is the perfect accent. It feels incredible to hold and know that the body is raw earth. the glaze along the rim is a glaze that crystallizes in the kiln due to a chemical reaction. All along the border when you look closely you see the crystal beginning to form. Every firing reacts differently and creates different patterns - P
