This piece is unique and fulfilling to me for many reasons. This is the first piece that i had to pull and attach three handles and along with that make two of them identical.
Doing that successfully gave me a new confidence with clay. This was the first piece I threw in this specific shape to introduce this new mug body to this collection. Pictures do not do these glazes justice at all. The way they melted is absolutely mesmerizing, especially on the mushroom caps where it looks like little glimpses of crystal peak through.the glaze along the rim is a glaze that crystallizes in the kiln due to a chemical reaction.
All along the border when you look closely you see the crystal beginning to form.
Every firing reacts differently and creates different patterns. I hope you feel the magic I feel every time you hold this piece -P
